The benefits of using nvim

The 2 biggest benefits of using nvim for me are:

  1. ”you don’t know what you don’t know”: writing your config, tinkering, being curious about nvim will teach you a lot about software.
  2. it’s truely yours: you configure it exactly how you want it. Don’t like an aspect of your editor -> remove it, want an ultra specific tool in your editor -> build it.

What nvim will not do:

  • save time: you’ll be quicker, but you will spend hours learning and playing around with your setup
  • Do everything for you: the temptation to have lots of plugins is strong, resist it and keep your config simple.

How to get started (or at least how I did)
